Less Lime in Cement :-
- Less amount of lime in cement Reduce the strength of cement.
- Also it reduce Setting time of cement.
Excess Of Lime in Cement :-
- Excess of lime in cement cause of Unsoundness of cement.
2. Silica ( Silicon Oxide )
✍ Quantity of Silica(silicon oxide) in cement in percentage / Composition ( % ) = 17-25%✍ Function :-
- Silica gives Strength of Cement.
Excess Of Silica in Cement :-
- Excess of silica in cement is the cause of slow setting.
3. Alumina ( Aluminum Oxide )
✍ Quantity of Alumina(aluminum oxide) in cement in percentage / Composition ( % ) = 3-8%✍ Function :-
- Responsible for Quick setting.
Excess of Alumina in Cement :-
- it lowers the strength
4. Iron Oxide
✍ Quantity of Iron oxide in cement in percentage / Composition ( % ) = 0.5-6%✍ Function :-
- Iron Oxide gives Colour to Cement.
- Iron oxide acts as a flux.
5. Magnesia ( Magnesium Oxide )
✍ Quantity of Magnesia(magnesium oxide) in cement in percentage / Composition ( % ) = 0.5-4%
✍ Function :-- Magnesia imparts Colour and Hardness in Cement.
6. Soda and/or Potash
✍ Quantity of Soda & Potash in cement in percentage / Composition ( % ) = 0.5-1%
✍ Function :-- These are residues
Excess of Soda or Potash in Cement :-
- cause of eflorescence and Cracking.
7. Sulphur Trioxide
✍ Quantity of Sulphur Trioxide in cement in percentage / Composition ( % ) = 1-2%
✍ Function :-- Excess of Sulphur Trioxide makes cement Unsound.
